We've been getting steadily busier (thanks for your referrals of family/friends!). This is certainly important for us, but it is also important to improve the quality of service and care we are giving. So we are making some small changes in how things are working (don't worry, it's nothing major!).
We are Changing our Billing System
For those who have a monthly automatic withdrawal (bless you! bless you!), we have been using a billing system that is not designed for our kind of medical practice. Over the past year, I've had the pleasure of working with the folks at Hint Health (hint.com) to help them develop a product that works specifically for direct primary care practices. This has been a long process, but they've really got something that works very well, and we are ready to switch over. Many of you have already gotten the emails and newsletter about this, so it's not new news. This is quite scary, as we can't afford to do have any significant interruptions in our cash-flow, but they are working hard to make it so we see no such interruption.
The real benefit to us will be the ease of signing up new patients (and the significant reduction in the fees with our transactions). Hopefully this will go without a hitch, and you won't see any changes to how things work. Say a prayer that this will be the case!
We are Closing Early on Fridays
Starting next Friday (November 7), our office will close at 3 PM on Friday. Why is this an improvement?? Our goal is not to get a head-start on the weekend or to sit together and consume adult beverages, it is to spend that time to go over our plans for our patients. As we grow it is becoming more and more evident that we have to set aside time to maximize the care of our patients. This involves methodically going through people's records and making sure our information is up to date and the people are getting the care they need. This means that we will still be in the office during those hours, but will be ignoring the phone and any banging on the door that occurs until we've done this important job.
We honestly don't know how this will work out, and hope to still accommodate people's needs at the end of the day (like the 50 people who realize they need a refill at 4:55 PM on Friday), but we won't be scheduling appointments during that time slot. This is experimental, and will change it if it causes too much trouble. Our goal, as always, is to maximize the value of the care we are giving to our patients.
Thanks, as always, for your support!
